Samagra conducted a one day staff orientation for the teachers of St. Joseph’s Indian High School. 35 teachers visited Samagra center for their orientation programme on 18th May 2022. The school counselor MsNirma D’Souza took initiative to plan the programme based on the theme Self Care and Accompaniment. The programme began with a prayer on the theme of ‘many sparks, one flame’. Teachers prayerfully meditated on their calling and lit candles to symbolically represent their role in igniting young minds. This was followed by the inauguration and welcome. Fr. Brian set the tone for the orientation by speaking on the paradigm shift happening in education and the evolving role of a teacher. This was followed by a session on the process and relevance of mentoring. The afternoon session was about self-care and managing stress effectively. This was followed by the concluding session on teachers as change makers and an exercise to share what is each teacher’s dream for their students in the ensuing academic year. The session was reported to be enriching and motivating for all teachers. They found it meaningful to reflect on their roles of influence in their student’s life and renewed their commitment to form men and women for others.
